They are well-organised under their manager and know how to grind out results at home.
Wrexham, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win of the season. They have failed to win any of their competitive matches this term and have drawn two of their three league games. The head-to-head favors Millwall too – fewer than three goals have been scored in each of the last six meetings between these two. Wrexham have covered the +0.5 line in their recent games, but Millwall’s home record and Wrexham’s struggles in front of goal make the home win appealing. Under 2.5 at 1.91 is also a smart play given the historical low-scoring nature of this fixture.
Burnley vs Middlesbrough – Middlesbrough 0.0 Asian Handicap
Turf Moor hosts this Lancashire vs Yorkshire clash, and I am siding with the visitors. Burnley are in dreadful form – winless in their last 18 matches in regular time, with 11 defeats in that run. They sit 22nd in the table with just one point from three games and got hammered 4-1 at Norwich last time out. Their defence is leaking goals, and their attack looks blunt.
Middlesbrough, meanwhile, are fifth in the table and come into this on the back of a 3-1 win over West Brom. They have won four of their five matches this season and look a well-organised side under their manager. The 0.0 Asian Handicap at 1.77 means you get your money back if it is a draw and a full win if Boro come out on top. Burnley have failed to cover the 0.0 line in any of their last ten games, and Middlesbrough have covered it in two of their last three. That is value in my book.
QPR vs Cardiff – Both Teams to Score
Loftus Road hosts this London vs Wales clash, and both teams to score looks a cracking bet at around 1.80. QPR have made a solid start to the season with two wins and a draw, sitting fourth in the table. They have found the net in all three of their league games and have been creating chances consistently.
Cardiff, meanwhile, have drawn all three of their league matches but have scored in each one. They are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, and their away form shows they tend to get involved in open games. The last three meetings between these two have seen both teams score, and with QPR’s attacking form and Cardiff’s inability to shut teams out, BTTS should land comfortably.
West Brom vs Charlton – Charlton Double Chance
The Hawthorns hosts this Midlands vs London clash, and I fancy the visitors to avoid defeat. Charlton are top of the table with three wins from three and have been in excellent form. They beat Preston 1-0 at the weekend and have shown they can grind out results. They are unbeaten in their last five Championship meetings with West Brom.
West Brom, meanwhile, have lost their last two games – 3-1 at Middlesbrough and 3-2 at Newcastle in the Cup. Their perfect start has been wiped out, and they look vulnerable at the back. The double chance – draw or Charlton – at around 2.10 is the value play. West Brom have not lost to Charlton at home in their last eight, but Charlton’s current form makes them a dangerous opponent. I will take the insurance of the double chance.
VfL Osnabruck vs Bayern Munich – Bayern Munich to Win & Over 3.5 Goals
The DFB Pokal first round sees Bayern travel to Osnabruck, and this should be a rout. Bayern are the defending champions and have started this season in scintillating form – they beat Dortmund 2-1 in the Supercup and hammered Stuttgart 5-1 in their Bundesliga opener. They have scored at least five goals 11 times last season and already once this term.
Osnabruck are a newly promoted 2. Bundesliga side sitting 14th in the table with two defeats from three games. They have conceded seven goals in those three matches and their defence will not be able to cope with Bayern’s attacking firepower. Bayern to win at 1.04 is a given for any accumulator, and over 3.5 goals at around 1.50 looks a cracking price. If you want more value, Bayern -3 Asian Handicap could be worth a look, but the over line is the safer play.
